A large rug such as the Handwriting Sampler would benefit my third graders as it would provide a shared meeting space in which we could build a cohesive classroom community. This year I am introducing flexible seating in my classroom. During this time the rug will also serve as an area to work independently or for partner work. Students can utilize it during silent reading as well. Since learning how to write in cursive begins in third grade, the rug will provide an excellent resource as students learn correct letter formation. Having this rug would be a wonderful addition to our classroom.
