My students are all at various points in their educational career, some are just starting high school and others are finishing it up. They are so deserving of having the tools and supplies that allow them to be creative within the classroom walls. Chromebooks can be used to research current science information, develop experiments, and even carry out experiments. They can use the Chromebooks to communicate with members of the community, researchers, doctors, and other members of the vast field that is science careers. This allows them to see some of their options beyond high school. I will specifically use the Chromebooks to foster collaboration amongst my students, have them complete research, and perform science experiments through interactive online demonstrations. Even though I have 24 students in each of my classes, 10 Chromebooks will push them to work together, bounce ideas off of each other, and grow in their knowledge of the sciences. They will need to learn to assign roles and delegate for projects and labs. Being able to access current research is crucial to furthering students interest in the science fields. Students will be able to access current events, discoveries, and be "in the know" with reliable sources. Part of our classroom routine includes looking up and sharing about what is going on in the world around us and where/how science plays a role. The last piece allows students to perform experiments they may not otherwise be able to do in the classroom lab. Specifically, this can be done with DNA replication and protein synthesis, photosynthesis, looking into the Earth's crust, examining fossils, and so forth. There are so many activities and labs that they would have access to. It also allows students to have a choice when designing experiments. We thank you for any help!
