My classroom is small - but so is the MimioTeach. The MimioTeach would allow my whiteboard to become an engaging and exciting piece of my lessons each and every day. Students would have the opportunity to manipulate sounds in words by dragging and dropping letters, solve a math problem with the pen and eraser after counting and moving objects, and watch video clips with the simple touch of the pen to the whiteboard. The world is at their fingertips as anything pulled up on my laptop can be projected onto the whiteboard via the MimioTeach. The MimioTeach turns an ordinary piece of the classroom, the whiteboard, into an interactive board, where the possibilities of how it can be used are endless. Kids are always excited to get to write on the whiteboard, but with an interactive pen, it's even more exhilarating! Research has shown that students who are engaged in the learning process have increased attention and focus, are motivated to practice higher-level critical thinking skills, and make more connections because the learning experience is meaningful. All of this can be made possible through one small piece of technology: the MimioTeach allowing my students to make the growth they need to in order to close the achievement gap.
