As a school counselor I see many students who are adjusting to new friends, small groups or just struggling to get along. I have found building projects help support students in learning group and individual social emotional skills while providing a concrete structure to solidify their work. The building materials will be used for play therapy, group challenges, and mediation exercises. The great part about this project is that we can use the materials over and over for different groups. Students will be able to experience problem solving skills and group cooperation while building small houses, caves, plant trestles, or perches for our school chickens.
