I teach kindergartners. Many of them have never been to school before, and many have free rein to move and be wild little munchkins when they aren't in school. It makes for an extremely long day for them- not only are they learning hard, new academic concepts, but they're expected to sit at a desk in a chair for long periods of time (except short brain breaks). They resort to tipping in their chairs, leaning on the table, and sitting with their feet and legs contorted strangely- all resulting in kids falling off their chairs and moving the desks. I know they aren't doing it to be unsafe; they just need to be able to move around! These flexible seating options will be added to the plastic Adirondack chairs and lap desks that I bought with my own money as an attempt to offer several different safe options for the students to sit comfortably while they work. Over time, I plan to continue adding to the collection of seat options to ensure all of my students have the best chance of being comfortable in the classroom. I've also learned that studies have shown flexible seating to enhance focus and engagement, so I have no doubt that these seats will be incredibly beneficial for my students. Thank you!
