Flexible seating allows children to find a work space that suits them best. Research shows that physical activity is linked to higher academic performance. Providing seating options that allow for wiggling, rocking or bouncing helps helps keep young minds alert and focused. Young children need to learn to make good choices, and picking a work space is a great place to start! Students feel empowered when they have some control over their environment. The products I have selected will allow my students options on where and how to work. Wobble cushions engage core, and students can wiggle on the floor or in a chair. The mats and sit-upons are great for floor work, and can be easily rearranged to encourage working with different peers.
