Great books are essential to have in the classroom. I want to foster and encourage my students' love for reading by creating a classroom library that has everything they are looking for and more. I remember being in elementary school and looking forward to reading time so that I could pick through the many titles in my teachers' libraries and find a book that was absolutely perfect for me. I want my students to do the same. Many of them come from homes in which they may not have books on hand at home to read, so I know that they will cherish my classroom library and be thankful for the many books in it. They will be able to find and choose books that interest them and engage them. I am hoping that their love for reading will grow even more in my classroom because of these books. I have chosen this selection of books with my students in mind and have really thought about the types of kids each book will attract. My classroom library, with these books included, will further my students interest in reading and will hopefully develop a lifelong habit.
