Students often recoil when give a long novel to read. I would like to give my students access to the graphic novel version of the classic The Odyssey to help foster a greater love of reading and make the epic more accessible to them. Also, I will be covering the novel Speak with my students in hopes of discussing several important issues such as the #metoo movement and the prominence of sexual violence and what to do if it happens to someone they know. The donations from this project will help me to achieve both of these goals and give my students an opportunity to experience the world outside of Strawberry Plains.
