Please help me to get sensory play equipment to offer more meaningful play opportunities to students with moderate to severe disabilities. The existing playground offers very little to these students, who are often seen sitting under play equipment or standing by the side during play time. The sensory play is fun and yet provides the opportunities for learning of several academic concepts in areas of Math, Language, and Science. Research shows that sensory play supports Language development, Cognitive growth, Motor skills, Problem solving skills, and Social interaction for students with disabilities. Sensory play area will provide safe area that helps calm our students when frustrated or anxious thus leading to a safer, more optimal learning environment on our school campus. Your help will go a long way in making school a more fun learning experience for students with special needs! Please Help!
