“One popular trick, since gallium molds easily and looks like aluminum, is to fashion gallium spoons, serve them with tea, and watch as your guests recoil when their Earl Grey "eats" their utensils.” With a classroom set of Sam Kean's book, The Disappearing Spoon, students will have the opportunity to increase their scientific literacy skills. This book brings the periodic table to life. The Disappearing Spoon is full of weird, fantastic, interesting stories behind different elements. Students can learn about elements and subatomic particles and history of science and the process that led to the organization of this masterpiece of science.
