Having a big enough carpet for us all to sit on would help us to talk as a group and being able to see each other when we do. Students can use the space to do their reading or partner work. A large carpet lets us have a meeting place for class meetings, shared reading and when we have guest speakers. All of the rooms in the building are tile and having a comfortable place to read or meet makes our room feel like a home - something special for us at school. Many students don't feel safe at home, so making their school space safe is good.
