"I JUST CAN'T PUT THIS BOOK DOWN!" The title of my project would be a quote I hope to hear from ALL of my students this year! Research shows that students need enormous amounts of time for actual reading. An engaged reader will be able to build their reading stamina. Great books can help engage readers. I will be part of a team that will pilot a new reading program at our school this year. Part of my goal will be to offer students longer periods of time to read. This will take work for many of my students. Many reluctant readers have not experienced the joy of getting wrapped up in a great book. This is a change I hope to inspire in my students this year! Simply stated, my project aims to engage readers and make them hungry for MORE READING by offering exciting new book choices. Wouldn't it be great for a 4th grader to enjoy a book so much that they can't stop talking about it and then suggest it to their friends? I request your help in bringing these titles to my classroom library. I hope to inspire readers that want to read as many books as they can. I would love to receive these new titles for my library and hopefully as the year goes on, the books will look a little more worn and tattered as more and more students read it and pass it on. "I just can't put this book down!" would truly be music to my ears.
