A new rug will provide the younger students with the opportunity to comfortably participate in language-enriched activities. Every lesson will be individualized to meet the needs of each student. The rug will allow the therapist to create flexible lesson plans through play-based therapy. Young children benefit from social interactions and exposure to a variety of experiences created through play. Play-based therapy includes a variety of learning opportunities to develop essential cognitive and communication skills. Providing the students with desirable activities will encourage them to use purposeful language to communicate their wants and needs. "Rug time" is essential for students to engage with others to watch, listen, retain, imitate and create language through shared experiences.
