Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and creates higher engagement. By providing different options for seating throughout the school days students are given the opportunity to choose the seats that they learn best in, it also provides students freedom to make a choice and provides them with the feeling of actually being able to have a say in their learning. The Flexible seating options that I have chosen provide students with comfort but also provide the chance for movement which most 6-8 year olds need. Asking students of such a young age to sit quietly and still for almost seven hours straight is a habit that we need to get out of.
