I've picked these items with a big goal in mind: to get my kids to have fun in the classroom. In my time that I've been teaching, I've found that while traditional methods of teaching work to bring up our scores, my kids are most excited about learning with hands-on methods. My kids are the most engaged and most willing to learn when they're having fun. The coloring tools listed above will give me the ability to give my kids assignments that let them engage their creative minds while giving them a chance to demonstrate what they've learned. The whiteboards on the list will let the kids have a chance to answer questions without going through the pressure and anxiety of being called upon. On my list, I've also added several board games. I always allow my students to eat their lunch in my room, and my kids have always appreciated having somewhere quiet to go. The games will be used for kids that come in during downtime at school, and I will be allowing teachers to check them out for after-school meets.
