After an engaging lesson with Georgia Organics, my team and I were excited to add gardening to our small group and large group lessons. We discovered that, in addition to reintroducing children to nature, gardening is jammed packed with science, math, literacy and even art concepts that can be so impactful at this age. To get started, we wanted to make sure we were equipped with books on the topic, tools, and the space for learning to engage the students in a way that would be meaningful and memorable. First, we selected great literature about growing fruit and vegetables with enticing pictures. Second, we secured 2 planters in our school's garden just for Pre-K. Third, we selected enough tools for a teacher-led group of 8 kids to be able to engage in a small group activity.
