Please help me create a rich library for ALL students! Coming from a predominantly African American neighborhood in Chicago, our students' current libraries are lacking variety and diversity. It's important for students of different cultures and backgrounds to see themselves represented in the texts they read. The materials listed in this project will GREATLY benefit my 5th graders by exposing them to complex texts with authors, characters, and real people with astounding stories. Our fifth grade scholars will be checking out books from our libraries in which they will dive into every single day. When they are finished with one of their novels, they'll have the option to choose another! Thank you for letting my classroom read and learn about the incredible journeys and stories of diverse people in history who are just like us!
