I was inspired by a colleague of mine to create a classroom library for my students with a diversity/social studies theme. Students in my district often come to me as a seventh grader reluctant to read anything in our school library and I want to change that by creating a library within my classroom that brings a world of diversity to them. I have chosen books with a social studies theme as many have not read historical fiction or nonfiction before. I often incorporate different types of literature into my lessons but I have nothing for students to check out on their own to read and they request to have more and more but I limited resources of what to provide them. Any bit of of this project would be helpful. Thank you for supporting literacy and diversity.
