My students will use the linking cubes, magnetic blocks, and soft blocks throughout our school day as tools to play and learn with. Whether it be during center time, play time, indoor recess, or to work with during morning work time, my students will explore and learn using the various blocks. As for the baby dolls, they will serve a dual purpose for my students. In our classroom, we practice conscious discipline as a way to help students self-regulate their emotions and find confidence. Part of the conscious discipline practice is baby doll circle time, the goal of which is to enhance the child/caregiver relationship. The baby dolls received will be used by my students during baby doll circle time, as well as in other types of dramatic play and center time. As for the calm down tools, it is another aspect of conscious discipline and they will be used to help my students self-regulate their emotions and find effective tools and ways to find peace again. Through play children develop social and cognitive skills, mature emotionally, and gain the self-confidence required to engage in new experiences and environments. The exploration that my students will be able to experience through use of different blocks and dramatic play tools will only enhance their learning that much more. By giving students a variety of tools to play and explore with, their creativity will soar and their passion for learning will continuously grow.
