All these items will provide my classroom with what is called "flexible seating". It's just as it says and makes seating flexible. When students have choices on how they can seat, they become more engaged in learning. The first part is the choices. Students feel independent when they are given choices which in turn gives them a sense of ownership in their work ethic and learning. The second part is being cozy! This will look different for all students so that is why it is important to offer a variety of items to allow them to choose from. Just like adults, students thrive in pleasant environments! These flexible seating items will help me create this in my classroom. I will incorporate ways for students to learn how to use the items and structure around using them to ensure they do not become distractions.
