Our ASL library will be used as a "center" in the classroom where students are able to read stories about Deaf culture as well as learning new signs the books show. The library will provide a varying level of books so that students in K-5th grade are able to utilize and enjoy them. Understanding Deaf culture will encourage students to embrace learning ASL and use it in the community. Students will learn the evolvement of ASL, and how it has become the 5th most used language in the United States. While learning about ASL and Deaf culture, students will be practicing reading and expanding their vocabulary!
