I would like to have sensory materials and activities for students to use at the beginning of the school day. This will help students self-regulate upon entry to their school day and assist them in being successful throughout the rest of the day. These activities allow students to take control of their educational journey each morning. I have seen the benefit of these bins through co-workers, and am excited to be able to implement them into my classroom this year. There are times when students will enter the classroom stressed out from a situation at home or on the bus, and I believe these bins will help students work through that stress and calm themselves for a fresh start each morning. I plan to rotate the bins throughout the year so students have the chance to engage in many different activities. I also hope to have enough that only 2-3 students are at a bin at a time. This will allow for students to interact with classmates without feeling overwhelmed!
