While we are figuring out this unprecedented time, students are in isolation. They are missing opportunities to experience diversity, and have key conversations, especially about issues the world is facing today. These books will help me start the conversations our kids need to have. Please help me build a diverse library for our picture book a day program. Every day I will read a picture book to my class and we will discuss the lesson, topic, fears, questions, and more. Picture books can open children's eyes to the world. They have the power to show new possibilities, teach difficult lessons, and create a community where we can celebrate our differences. Read alouds fostered community during my previous year's distance learning. Help me maintain that amazing time with my new class and keep the conversations centered on celebrating diversity, inclusion, and seeing a more accurate representation of the world and the people who live in it.
