Being able to tell time in today's era is more important than ever before. Digital clocks are easily accessible, hence one just has to look over at the clock and say the time they see. No skill is necessary to tell time, but, in third grade, students are expected to tell time to the nearest minute, which you can only learn using an analog clock. Third grade math common core standards include tell and write time to the nearest minute and to measure time intervals in minutes, which you can only teach using an analog clock. The analog clocks and the time elapse/intervals resources will assist with the teaching of time to my student to the minute. The ability to apply telling time is also expected through solving word problems involving addition and subtraction of time intervals in minutes. The clocks will be a great resource to use while they learn how to tell time and on working on time interval word problems.
