Reading happens throughout the school day in my classroom. Students spend a lot of time reading in partners, listening to me read books aloud, and reading independently. I have a large classroom library which continues to expand as I continue adding new and exciting titles to keep my students reading. The bookshelves I currently have are falling apart. The shelves fall as my students are looking for books. All the books are stored in book bins because the shelves are too deep and the book bins make it difficult to quickly find the books students are looking for. These book shelves would allow me to better organize and expand my library to encourage reading. “There are many little ways to enlarge your child’s world, Love of books is the best of all” – Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Once my students are able to find the perfect book, they need a spot where they can comfortably get lost with those characters. Throughout my classroom, I have many different places for students to read. Currently, I have crate seats around the perimeter of reading area. These are about 6 years old and truly falling apart. The benches would allow for more storage of books, while also providing another cozy place for students to read.
