Have you ever tried to conduct a read aloud only to find that the children in the back cannot see the book? Have you ever watched a student try to do a presentation on a project - one that has been carefully crafted by the student, but the children in the back of the room cannot see the efforts of that student? The document camera can make a huge difference in student learning, because it makes it possible for all children to see content up close and at the same time. This device helps students tremendously when it comes to working through processes or tasks, because I can lead students more efficiently through class activities. Students also love to use the document camera to show, not only what they know, but what they did when completing homework assignments from textbooks and handouts. This works especially well for those reluctant students who do not want to get up in front of the class, but still want to prove that they understand the concepts being taught.
