Working together to solve problems and have discussions with peers allows students to learn from one another. These experiences encourage a positive learning environment where students learn to grow and feel confident in themselves. These tools will allow for group work and collaboration between various learning styles and levels. Learning is more than a paper and pencil; it is about creating hands-on experiences for students. By using the stack stools for flexible seating, I will be able to provide opportunities for my students to learn the way that meets their needs. It is important for me to provide my students with the opportunity to learn in their least restrictive environment. This includes tools and learning games that will engage my students to become active learners, such as large dice and dry erase sheets to engage students in their learning. They will be able to use the "desk bands" to help keep the student focused by being able to quietly and safely move their bodies. The large dice will allow students to manipulate addition and subtraction sentences during centers. A large part of first grade is learning to read. The resealable bags and the large plastic envelopes will be great for students to go "shopping for books" in our classroom library. The students will choose books on their level and books that interest them. They will use the bags to keep their books safe in their desks. The large plastic envelopes will allow the students to take books home that are ON THEIR LEVEL. This is key because the students will be able to decode and practice this book with their families.
