My students amaze me with the questions they ask during lessons and their hunger for project-based learning opportunities to support their understanding of content and nourish their growth mindset. In order to grow academically and social-emotionally, it is important for students to connect what they are learning with previous experiences, take ownership of their learning, and have a wide variety of options and opportunities to show what they know. My diverse learners are hard workers who are developing their skills to fluently read, write, speak, and listen in order to respond to new situations with focus and purpose through participation in project-based learning. Their skills are helping them improve on state testing and in real-life. As a bridge to connect previous learning and skills to new learning and improved skills it is crucial to allow students to CREATE as a vehicle for growth academically, social-emotionally, and in other areas of need. Students will use the camera to capture role-play scenarios, document data, and conduct interviews to support growth in English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Study Skills. Furthermore, students will use the art materials to create scenes, construct structures/geographical regions, and justify their reasoning, using a creative outlet to explain the concept. I am privileged to watch my students growth from 6th through 8th grade- entering as timid 6th graders and leaving for high school as proud 8th graders! It is amazing to witness what they can do when given the love, resources, and opportunity. Thank you for your time and consideration. Peace and blessings.
