I just finished a three week training focusing on social emotional learning and wellness in the school community. I am interested in helping to bring some of the resources I learned about into my school to share with students, staff, and parents. Through my training, I was transformed as an individual, parent, a wife, a friend, and a teacher. I became the best version of myself that I have ever known. The books and resources on this list are some of the materials that were recommended during my training. These materials will help engage students in the content and practices that I want to implement. This content regarding mindfulness, movement, and social emotional learning will help me meet the varying needs of my students. It will help them to understand their feelings and thoughts as well as gain strategies for emotional regulation. These practices will then allow them to be more available to learn. I also hope to share ideas, tips, and information from these materials with families to help better connect with the community. I will use some of it for my after school and lunch yoga club. I will share with my colleagues and try to pass on all that I have learned. I hope to also teach a "parent and me" yoga class where some of these resources would come in handy.
