The materials I am requesting will allow my students to choose which seating arrangement works best for them. Although I will keep a group with regular chairs to accommodate those students who prefer a standard desk and chair, other groups will have bean bags, stools, and yoga balls. The seat cushions and rug will be utilized during independent reading (read to self) and/or read with a partner, as students find that cozy spot with their book of choice. I want the best from my students and to get their best, they need to know that I value how they learn. I've realized that when students get to choose where they sit, they are more focused on the task at hand and not distracting others or themselves. I have observed an increase in attention and focus in my students when they have a choice in where they sit, which has positively effected their academics. The growth of my students is important and I want to provide them with every opportunity to stay focus and possess a positive attitude with their academics.
