The addition of Chromebooks in my classroom will amplify my students’ learning tremendously. Technology is such an important part of everyone’s daily life and it has become an essential learning tool in the classroom. At the moment, I have one classroom student computer for 21 students. The Chromebooks will be used to reinforce and enhance the learning in my classroom. I plan to use them in all subject areas, especially for reading and math. The students will be able to use the computers in a small group setting, which will allow them to develop necessary computer skills while enriching their learning experience. There are numerous programs that are available to my students at Hesse, including Accelerated Reader, MobyMax, and Zearn. The children love to take Accelerated Reader comprehension tests with the completion of each new book that they read, which is a very important achievement in first grade. The MobyMax program helps to “find and fix” learning gaps. Finally, the Zearn program supports and will reinforce the math program, Eureka, that we use at Hesse.
