When students get mad, agitated, have anxiety, or are just having a bad day the first impulse is to act out and in turn to be punished. What if instead, we give them items to focus on to help them naturally calm down without getting into trouble? These items will be placed in my chill zone in my classroom where students can take 5 minutes to regulate their emotions before returning to learning. The items I have included in my cart are things that students can manipulate or concentrate on to help them bring down their anxiety or stress levels. I hope that this will help those that that tend to get into trouble find a suitable outlet to breathe and calm down.
