I believe that kindergartners learn best through play! When students have comfortable areas in the classroom where they are able to foster their creativity and use their imaginations, learning comes naturally. Also, it is important for the kindergarten classroom to have a soothing and home-away-from-home feel to help transition students from home to school. Our classroom will have an Imagination Station and a Creation Station! My vision is to have plush rugs to create comfort and coziness in different areas of our classroom; along with an easel that allows multiple students to create at one time. Our easel will allow three students or more to work on their artistic creations; whether through chalk, dry erase markers or paint! Our imagination station needs a plush rug for students to sit on while they play with their dinosaurs, tea sets, baby dolls, or to have their pretend picnics or camp outs on. In the end, all of these items will help my students create stories and narratives about life, which are the first steps to literacy.
