I would like to help my students embrace their uniqueness among one another by providing them with a variety of multicultural toys that can be incorporated in multiple interest centers around the room. This will encourage the celebration of diversity. Children become very self-aware at a young age; therefore, multicultural items are an important part of the classroom that helps promote the celebration of cultural differences, similarities, and uniqueness. I would like to include puppets, books, dress-up, and multi-cultural dolls to help promote positive interactions and encourage individuality. It will also encourage a child's self-acceptance, self-esteem, and confidence which is so important in the early years of education.
