When I walked into my fifth grade classroom, I have zero book for read aloud and independent reading. My district is adopting a new curriculum this school year; the foundation of this curriculum is in high interest, just right leveled books. My students will all be reading at varying levels and it is my job to provide then all with access to book they can access and enjoy! These books with allow each and every child to develop a love for and confidence in reading! The best way to increase my students ability and joy of reading is frequent opportunities to read books they choose and that interest them. Many of my students do not have access to an excess of books in the home so the availability of a wide range of books that they can read both in the classroom and take home, will be a major asset in their literacy and literary development.
