I plan on switching from morning work to morning tubs this school year. With how much practice we need to interact with each other, especially in informal social situations, I began researching about the power of play. I have learned that play sets the foundation for our later interactions with the world. Play should be viewed not as an extra but as a necessity. Play has been substituted for other things- ipads, video games, TV, etc. I plan on starting the school day with 10-15 minutes of morning tub time. Students will be able to work together to create, build, imagine, laugh, learn, and play. I anticipate students walking in the door excited to get started with their school day. After students have been allowed to play, talk and laugh, my students will come to the carpet ready to learn.
