Who said learning can't be both fun and rigorous? Each of the requested materials will help my school create transformational learning labs for our students across grade levels. These learning labs will create unique learning experiences for our students. Due to limited income and other trying out-of-school concerns, our students have a significant gap in background knowledge. This gap is often due to lack of exposure of places and events. These transformational classrooms will help us build their schema and truly help them connect to academic content in an engaging way. The materials will create four transformations: (1) Chopped Poetry Competition (2) Carnival Review (3) Boot Camp Annotation Challenge and Review (4) Emergency Review & Revising Challenge The more engaged the students are, the easier they will grasp the content and improve their achievement on formative assessments. We will utilize the labs for review before major exams AND introducing historically challenging concepts. Please help us create lasting experiences that will enrich the lives of our students forever!
