Flexible seating allows my students to have some choice of where they sit during independent work time. They know themselves best, so different seating options allows them to choose what will work best for them as a learner. A lot of students like to sit on the floor while working on an assignment. I would like to help them continue to work comfortably from wherever they choose to sit. Flexible seating has been shown to increase engagement for students. I believe they feel more comfortable and more responsible when they have the freedom to choose where to sit. I have chosen several products that will allow students to comfortably sit around the classroom. The lap desks will allow students to sit on the floor and still have a hard writing surface to use or a place to put their laptop when we are using laptops. Many of the other products accomplish this goal as well. Additionally, there are several products that will allow students freedom of movement while they are working. These are great for students who have a difficult time sitting still. I look forward to seeing how these flexible seating options support the learning of my students!
