My student all come to school to learn. They love to work together and try new things. We are often moving around the room to allow them to be able to sit still and be more focused during a lesson.
These seating options will support my students need for sensory stimulation while they are learning. Young students need movement for their brains to be in a good space to retain what they are learning. By creating a classroom that allows students to choose where they are most comfortable it will enhance their motivation to learn. While writing, reading or doing math centers students will have the opportunity to choose a seating option that fits their needs. This will also help students learn how to make good choices that will help them learn best and be comfortable.
Last year, I had a few scoop chairs and the students loved them. The students took turns using the chairs. I was amazed at how they helped so many of my more wiggly students stay on task. All of the students love it when it is their turn.
We would love to have more options and seats available in our classroom. This would allow more of our students the ability to be comfortable and grow their minds.
