With these new calculators, my students will be able to keep pace with the general education students. These calculators allow computation of fractions, percents, decimals, and simplifying fractions- all vital skills that special education students tend to struggle with due to decreased working memory and processing speeds. Our current calculators are the most basic of basic and will not provide the support they need for next year's transition to a quickly paced co-taught setting. The general education classroom will require students to keep to a much faster pace than the small group setting requires and the students will use these calculators for the skills that their non-disabled peers can perform quickly, such as simplifying fractions and multiplying decimals. Please help us increase our chance of success to 100%!
