My students dove headfirst into music literacy last year and they showed remarkable growth in their skills. This year I would like to be able to enhance their literacy and musicianship skills through playing more games.
Games in the music room give every student the chance to participate with the group or individually.
It has been amazing to see even the shyest students perform individually during a game. Games in music help build teamwork, patience, and are always joyful experiences.
Here is how the specific materials will be used:
The stones and rhythm sticks will be used for passing games with 3rd-5th grade.
The drum will be used to perform the steady beat during singing games. The puppets will be used to play games and tell stories in K-2nd grade. The dry erase boards will be used for music literacy games with 2nd-5th grade.
The laminator, laminating sheets, and printer ink will be used to create cards for small group center games and music notation cards for large group games.
The tripod will be used so that I can record videos of students playing games to use for assessment purposes.
