Educational reformer John Dewey believed that "human beings learn through a hands on approach". Reality must be experienced in order to be understood. Teaching first graders truly puts this theory into action. Children enjoy things that are larger than life, so, being able to move through a number line like a ninja, turn hands on a clock like a wizard, and build words like an architect is what makes learning so worth wild and exciting for these young learners. Our children should experience learning in the most tactile ways that they possibly can in order to truly grasp the life concepts being given to them.
