Throughout the school year my students read many different books and played educational strategy games. My students loved what happened after the math lesson and independent practice, because they got to engage in games closely related to the lesson: strategy card games. Also, they loved coming back from recess to a whole class read-aloud. They finished 14 titles and could not wait to see what the next title would be. One particular thing that I noticed about my students was that they absolutely were mesmerized when a book included an animal, in particular, a dog.
