In 5th grade, Jamestown begins our adventure through early American history. This book will be used to set the stage for our study of the first permanent English settlement in North America. Though considered historical fiction, this book was extensively researched by the author to reflect historical accuracy. Students will be captivated by the adventure and resourcefulness of the colonists as they understand the obstacles that could have brought about very different results. This book will be a springboard to not only our Social Studies content but also to the study of literary elements that include setting, plot, characterization, conflict, point of view and theme.
