Games are motivating and help children to actively participate in their learning through a variety of visual, hearing, and motor means and also learn self regulation skills that can generalize to the classroom. Through direct and indirect instruction, children learn a variety of skills necessary for educational and social success. Communication is more than what is said. Learning through play is essential for small children. Children can learn new vocabulary (which leads to sentence production/reading skills), how to request items, how to take turns, practice correct speech production and so much more through play. As a recent graduate, my speech room is very dependent upon donation and garage sales to become the ultimate learning environment for my students as I do not currently have the means to fill my room. Having the correct tools to work with can mean all the difference in terms of motivation and progress for my students. I want to be able to give them the best chance for success!
