Students that lack confidence and motivation to read can often be convinced to pick up a comic. A comic takes less time to read, it is entertaining, and nobody judges you. Expanding my school's graphic novel collection has helped my reluctant readers sample different genres, try to emulate drawing styles, and use context clues to inform the text. The TOON Book Collection will not only help me add more comics to my library collection, but it will allow me to offer library lessons on the history, structure, and importance of this widely popular art form. I will be able to offer detailed explanations about panel layout, inking and coloring, and introduce new vocabulary.
