Students feel empowered by having choices and control over their environment. By providing options of seating, my students will be able to choose where and how they want to sit while they are learning. It has become very evident in my years of teaching that students need to move. Flexible seating options allows them to rock, bounce, sit or stand, keeping their minds more alert and active. This is especially important for students with ADD, ADHD, and ASD. Flexible seating also allows student the opportunity to be more comfortable while learning. When a student is uncomfortable, they lose focus. This option will allow students to find the spot that is most comfortable for them, as well as the place they can do their best learning.
