A carpet will provide us a comfortable place to expand our learning. This will be the place where we have our morning meetings and build a classroom community. This magic carpet will also take us on great adventures during our read aloud. We will learn about fascinating people, our history, and new and exciting places. The carpet I've selected has the alphabet written in manuscript and cursive. This is especially beneficial to my students with dyslexia. Cursive can help them with the decoding process because it integrates hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and other brain and memory functions. I don't want them to see cursive as something pertaining only to dyslexia, so I am thankful Texas has had added cursive writing as a new standard for all students. I'd like to expose them to it from the moment they walk into our classroom home.
