In 4th grade, students still need to be instructed from a variety of spaces in the classroom with content presented in various fashions. By providing a rug in my classroom, my students will be able to move to the carpet to have stories read aloud to them, follow along with mini lessons and listen to guest speakers when they visit. Additionally, the rug will make our space inviting and allow us to build community. The kick bands will be a way for students to remain seated during traditional whole group lessons at their seats, but will allow them to wiggle in order to expend excess energy without disrupting their peers or the flow of the lesson.
