Reader’s Workshop is a time for students to choose books to read and practice their skills independently, while I work with students one-to-one or in a small group. I have a portion of my class each year that struggle to find engaging books or a series that they love. By incorporating graphic novels into my class library, this will increase the likelihood of children finding a novel that they can quickly become engaged with. Reading breeds more success with reading! Students will fall head-over-heels in love with these new graphic novels. This will build a student's love of reading by helping them interact with a series that they can love and relate to. Students won’t want to put them down! Readers workshop in fourth grade won’t be the same!
